Visionary WA electronic duo Empire of the Sun will return to the national stage in early 2027 in their largest tour of Australia and Zealand to date.
Launching in Auckland on February 19, the group will then play singular shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and a finale at Perth’s RAC Arena on March 6.
Consisting of long-time duo Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, the pair are best known for crafting resonant hits Walking On A Dream, and We Are The People.
Their previous Australian tour was in spring 2024.
With Littlemore also forming one half of electronic duo Pnau, he primarily works behind the scenes as a studio producer, writer and creative director for Empire of the Sun, while Steele performs as frontman of their travelling band.
Steele has been on tour in North America since the beginning of August.
Their world tour represents the final instalment of their Ask That God journey, a divine extension of the pair’s fourth studio album, released in 2024.
Featuring singles Changes, Music on the Radio, and Cherry Blossom, it followed an eight-year hiatus that began after their 2016 album Two Vines.
“Ask That God: Afterlife feels like a tour of unknowns and possibilities — new visions, new plateaus, fragile breakthroughs. I think things are going to happen on this tour that have never happened before,” Steele said.
“We can’t wait to take this music and this tour to new frontiers. Let’s break barriers together.”
The live shows have been crafted to celebrate imagination, transformation and connection in a rapidly changing world.
Empire of the Sun was formed in 2007, with their celestial single Walking On A Dream also the name of their debut 2008 album.
The familiar tune has been an official anthem for Western Australia since 2022, employed as part of WA’s global tourism campaign.
Tickets for Australian shows go on sale Friday, September 18.
