Perth act Tame Impala is being celebrated on the global stage after scoring two Grammy nominations.

Kevin Parker — who is the musical genius behind act Tame Impala — has earned a nod in both the best alternative music album and best rock song category at the 2021 Grammy Awards, set to air on January 31.

The recording academy released its annual list of accolades this morning, with Tame Impala recognised for the album The Slow Rush, going up against Phoebe Bridgers, Brittany Howard, Fiona Apple and Beck for the gong.

Parker also made a second appearance in the rock category as the songwriter behind Lost In Yesterday, which has been nominated for Best Rock Song.

The 2021 list brings Tame Impala’s Grammy nomination tally to a total of four, after scoring a place in the nomination pack for Best Alternative Music Album in both 2014 and 2016.

The psychedelic stylings of Tame Impala began in Perth back in 2007 and have since been gifted a slew of high profile awards — including eight ARIAs and a Brit.

The Slow Rush will also be recognised at the 2020 ARIA awards today, with Parker awaiting a result on his nominations in the Album Of The Year, Best Group and Best Rock Album categories, while his single Lost In Yesterday scored a Best Pop Release nomination.

Is It True earned a Best Video nod and Parker himself was individually nominated for both Engineer Of The Year and Producer Of The Year at the Australian music awards ceremony.

Australian artist Flume also scored a Grammy nomination for the 2021 awards ceremony with his recording The Difference.
