Taylor Swift has capped off an astonishingly successful year by being named Time Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’.

The American singer-songwriter swiftly beat out eight other finalists for the prestigious title including King Charles III and Barbie.

Swift was the subject of countless headlines in 2023, mostly for The Eras Tour which smashed box office records, provoking an inquiry into TicketMaster’s sale practices and more recently, her new relationship with Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce.

Time awards the title to “the individual, group, or concept that has had the most influence on the world throughout the previous 12 months.”

Launched as a marketing gimmick in the 1920s, the award has continued to drive fanfare as weekly print magazines struggle to remain relevant.

Swift also topped PEOPLE’s 2023 Most Intriguing People of the Year List and Forbes fifth most powerful woman on the planet in what has to be her most successful year to date.

The ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker is the most-streamed artist globally in 2023, having surpassed 26.1 billion streams worldwide.

She’s also reinvented the wheel by re-recording her earlier records due to a feud over her master rights, with two more still to be released, following ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)‘, ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)‘, Red (Taylor’s Version)‘ and ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)‘.
