A splash of the Sunshine Coast has reached WA shores as iconic Noosa founded Betty’s Burgers opens its first store in the State.

Opening Sunday, Forrest Chase has been selected as the location for its 38th store and first WA addition.

While the hustle and bustle of the CBD doesn’t reflect its Queensland roots, managing director Troy McDonagh said the restaurant would bring a slice of chilled beach-style dining to the heart of Perth.

“It’s our first restaurant there and we’re bringing the Noosa vibes,” he said. “We’re really wanting to recreate that feeling.”

For those who haven’t been to a Betty’s Burgers joint, Mr McDonagh said to expect beach-shack vibes, interiors using calm colours with pops of pastels and a good feed.

“There are plenty of burgers out there but what we really come back to is fresh, simple ingredients and the made to order philosophy,” he says.

There is a range of burger fillings plus a secret sauce that has put the restaurant on the map since opening in 2014.

Alongside fresh food, Mr McDonagh said passionate staff was a key ingredient of the business, with the chain flying 10 people over from the East Coast to quarantine before training new employees this week.

“I have a belief that in Australian hospitality we’ve lost a little of the genuineness and the passion behind hospitality,” he says.

“So we work hard on making sure our team are a fun team, they welcome guests in… they’re welcoming someone in like they’re welcoming them in their home.”

Forrest Chase centre manager Christine Johnston said the new addition supports their goal to create vibrancy within the CBD, which also recently welcomed Funlab’s B.Lucky & Sons and Strike Bowling.

The CBD location marks the first of what Mr McDonagh expects many restaurants in WA, including along the Southern part of the State.
