CCTV footage has revealed the moment high profile Australian businesswoman Carolyn Creswell came close to dying after she choked on a piece of steak during a dinner party.

Ms Creswell, the founder of gourmet food brand Carman’s Kitchen, has been public about the terrifying ordeal that turned into a life-or-death situation that led to her being hospitalised back in 2024.

The mother of four began to choke on a piece of steak while she and her husband Peter were dining with friends at their Gippsland farm.

In the footage, obtained by The Herald Sun, Ms Creswell can be seen moving towards the sink before going outside, and collapsing.

She is surrounded by the others at the dinner - one of whom dials triple-0 - as her husband begins attempting to dislodge the piece of meat.

“Pete tried everything to bang/heimlich it out,” Ms Creswell wrote in a post on her Instagram page at the time.

Guests attempted CPR until paramedics arrived, with the force of the lifesaving efforts breaking nine of her ribs and her sternum.

“Apparently, it’s not good CPR if it doesn’t break a few things!” Ms Creswell wrote.

The Herald Sun reports Ms Creswell on Thursday was reunited with Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic Trent Jackson and Triple Zero Victoria call-taker Imogen Disney, who walked Peter through the triple-0 call and said he did “everything right”.

“He gave the address clearly and quickly so we could get help on its way immediately, and in spite of everything that was going on he stayed very calm and listened to all of my instructions so we could keep doing CPR together until paramedics arrived,” she said.

“His actions helped save Carolyn’s life that day.”

Ms Creswell spent a week recovering in the ICU in Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital, requiring stitches to her head and treatment for the significant trauma caused by the resuscitation.

Despite her extensive injuries, Ms Creswell said she is “eternally grateful every day for a 100 per cent recovery”, crediting her survival to the quick thinking of her husband, friends and emergency services, and singling out the calm triple-0 operator who talked the group through CPR.

She also thanked Life Saving Victoria for equipping Australians with first-aid skills that can mean the difference between life-and-death.

“I just wanted to do a huge shout-out to @lifesavingvic for teaching skills that might save someone’s life (like mine!),” she wrote.

Ms Creswell said she was overwhelmed by the care she received once in hospital.

“How lucky we are to live in a country with such incredible medical care,” she wrote.

Doctors later delivered a blunt warning she won’t forget.

“It’s always the steak,” she wrote.
