A Swan Valley couple have made an emotional plea for help to find their lost puppy Mischka, after the eight-month-old who “means the world” to the family went missing in Malaga yesterday.

Mischka and his owner Ben Standfield were making a trip to buy pet food in Malaga when the young puppy was spooked, slipping through his collar and running off.

“He was gone in a shot,” Mr Standfield told The West Australian.

The beloved pet was last seen on the corner of Alexander Drive and Beach Road in Malaga running towards the Koondoola Reserve.

Mr Standfield said he spent up to six hours looking for Mischka on Tuesday afternoon, returning to the area before daylight this morning and searching until 3pm — but to no avail.

His partner Marilou, who affectionately refers to Mischka as the couple’s “furbaby,” held back tears as she revealed the puppy “means the world” to her and her family.

Mr Standfield said the dog was “timid and standoffish,” meaning he was easily spooked by loud noises.

He Standfield said the eight-month-old was microchipped, so they hoped he could be found and returned to them.

“He means absolutely everything to us,” he said.

The couple are offering a ‘generous reward’ for Mischka’s safe return.
