Awards highlight excellence in creating communities for WA

Tonight, the Western Australian development industry will come together to celebrate the very best projects, people and organisations at the UDIA WA 2026 Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner.

For more than three decades, the Awards for Excellence program has represented the pinnacle of quality urban development in WA, recognising outstanding achievement across categories ranging from masterplanned communities and residential subdivisions through to apartment living, urban renewal and industry leadership.

The awards provide an important showcase of the quality, innovation and diversity being delivered across our state. They highlight projects that are helping to create vibrant, sustainable and connected communities while responding to the needs of current and future generations.

For prospective homebuyers, previous finalists and winners offer a valuable guide to developments which have demonstrated excellence across a range of measures. The awards assess far more than just design and construction quality – the independent judging panel also considers elements such as sustainability, innovation, community benefit and liveability.

Delivering the homes our state needs requires innovation, collaboration and a willingness to embrace new approaches. Across the awards program, we see examples of developments and initiatives that provide a broader range of housing options, create more sustainable communities and enhance the places where Western Australians live.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the program is seeing WA projects, teams and individuals go on to achieve success at the national level.

Our state has developed a strong reputation for delivering award-winning communities and initiatives which stand alongside the very best in the country.

Last year’s Western Australian winners continued that tradition at the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s National Awards for Excellence earlier this year, with Providence Lifestyle recognised in the Seniors Living category for Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort, Zenith Energy taking out the Diversity in Development award, and Brabham Estate by Peet, Perron Group and DevelopmentWA winning the national Sustainability category.

The highest honour awarded tonight will be the Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence, which recognises the best of the

best from among the category winners. It represents the highest accolade in our state awards program and celebrates a project exemplifying excellence across every aspect of urban development.
