Albany Senior High School are providing underprivileged children with the gift of giving this Christmas.

Year 8 student leaders and chaplain Jennifer Wingard have been putting together shoe box gifts full of donated goods as part of the Operation Child Christmas Boxes project.

Students and families have donated essential items such as stationary, toys and toiletries to provide hope this Christmas season for underprivileged children in war-torn countries.

ASHS principal Melissa Walker said it was a “special process” for Albany students to be involved in.

The project is part of the ASHS Reaches Out program.

“It’s a way for students to realise the needs of other young people, it’s an opportunity to reach out, think globally and make a difference,” she said.

“It’s the notion they are thinking beyond their world to support others.”

The boxes will be collected from the school and sent to Perth before being distributed to identified war-torn countries around the globe.
