Emergency services have issued a hazmat warning after police found a diesel leak covering parts of Albany Highway on Monday.

The leaked diesel is stretching across 100 metres of road on Albany Highway and 250 metres of Martagallup Road in Kendenup.

The leak was found by police who reported the spill to emergency services at 8.18am.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services are warning people to drive cautiously and to stay away from the area while the spill is cleaned up.

No roads are closed due to the diesel spill.

A spokesperson from DFES said the diesel leak is suspected to be accidental from a truck travelling along Martagallup Road.

An update issued at 11.40am said the spill is now contained and controlled.
