GSFL 2025: Dominant Mt Barker take 101-point win over North Albany in NAIDOC Round as McMahon kicks nine goals

Mt Barker booted home a crushing win over North Albany at Sounness Park in round 10 of the Great Southern Football League on Saturday, running away with the contest by 101 points. Camball McMahon booted nine goals in the mauling to be awarded the NAIDOC Round award in the clash as the Kangas went goalless in the second half. The Bulls were 31 points up at quarter-time and while each side added two majors in the second, the home side stretched the buffer to 35 points. In a dominant last half, the Bulls piled on 10 unanswered goals on their way to a 19.16 (130) to 4.5 (29) result as Jared Ballard chipped in with three majors. Tyreice Brown, Tristan Ballard, Darcy Wallinger, Daniel Patching, Brent Parsons and Sebastian Ballard were outstanding for the Bulls, along with McMahon who kept cool control of the forward line with his bag of nine. Jyrin Woods kicked two goals for the Kangas while Regan Christensen and Luke Pickering also hit the scoreboard, but their efforts were in vain. Kobi Keen, Matt Orzel, Calum Dixon and Rhett Hassell best served the Kangas. Bulls coach Gary Pope said the team fed off a quick start and kept their momentum rolling through the second half. “We were pretty happy with this week’s game. All credit to North Albany; they came back out in the second quarter and hit hard, and they played a pretty physical game,” he said. “We play a solid second half now, so I was happy to see we gathered our momentum after half-time and kept it rolling all the way through.”
