Wintry conditions did not dampen the spirits of mountain bike enthusiasts last Sunday.

A total of 41 riders braved wet and muddy conditions to compete in the XCO event run by Albany Mountain Bike Club at Mt Melville.

Two-time Albany sportsperson of the year Craig Wiggins dominated the day to defeat his closest rival by more than 15 minutes in the men’s A-division across six laps.

Competitors of all ages hit the slopes, each division racing over a number of laps of the course, with plenty of smiling faces to be seen on the wet and soggy track.
