Last Friday, my wife Pat and I were walking along a pavement in Albany near the Kmart store when my wife fell over face down; she just tripped.

Just after she fell, a lady walked around the corner and offered her a helping hand.

She saw two men approaching and asked if they would help lift Pat up.

They straightaway helped Pat off the pavement.

Pat had blood on her face, her glasses were badly damaged, and 24 hours later she had bruises on her face, wrist and accompanying pain.

The lady who helped us, without asking, offered to take us back to the cruise ship.

We thanked the two men for their assistance but didn’t get their names.

The lady who helped us took us to her large vehicle and took us all the way back to the port and with the help of port security took us to the ship’s gangway.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get any of their names, but hopefully through The Advertiser we can say a big ‘thank you’ to the lady and the two men who stepped up to help us.

Pat is in her upper 70s and I’m approaching 80.

Your town of Albany is not only welcoming but caring and we cannot thank the three people enough, in particular the lady for caring so much to help two strangers.

We are both retired London police officers on holiday.

How good it is to know there are kind and helpful people when you need them.

Thank you to them all, from the two strangers visiting your town.
