West Coast fall to fifth loss of the AFLW season at the hands of cross-town rivals Fremantle

The West Coast Eagles suffered a heavy defeat to premiership favourites and cross-town rivals Fremantle in round six of the 2021 AFLW season at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

The Eagles fell to their fifth loss of the season after being outgunned by 67 points.

Denmark ruck Parris Laurie continued her strong form, collecting 11 disposals to go along with 14 hit-outs and one mark.

Pingrup’s Belinda Smith gathered 10 touches, two marks and laid three tackles.

After kicking two goals in the first term, the Dockers added three unanswered majors in the second term to extend their lead to 34 points at half-time.

The Eagles kicked their first and only major in the third stanza but the Dockers added five of their own to stretch to 59 points heading into the final term.

One goal to the Dockers in the last quarter helped them run out comfortable 11.9 (75) to 1.2 (8) victors.

The Eagles host Geelong at Mineral Resources Park at 2.10pm in round seven this Sunday.
