Augusta-Margaret River’s premiership defence has been given an extra boost of experience with the return of another of its exports.

Tim Noakes, who went on to play 92 games in the WAFL for East Perth and Perth is set to return to the Hawks’ nest as the club’s second major signing for the upcoming SWFL season.

The 38-year-old retired from WAFL football at the conclusion of Perth’s 2012 season.

Noakes won East Perth’s best and fairest in 2008 and kicked 103 goals during his WAFL career.

The Hawks took to social media to announce the signing, a week after announcing fellow former East Perth best and fairest winner Steven Payne’s return to the club.

“Tim Noakes, we are looking forward to seeing you back in Hawks colours for the 2022 season,” the statement read.

The two-time SWFL leading goalkicker contributed to the Hawks’ 2011 premiership win over South Bunbury and took on a player-coach role during the 2013 season.

It continues a string of big-name signings in the South West.

Former Essendon Bomber Ben Howlett will return home to Donnybrook after retiring from WAFL last year, where he played 102 games for Peel Thunder, former Fremantle Docker Joel Houghton and South Fremantle premiership hero Jacob Dragovich signed with Eaton Boomers, and former Perth player Fraser Millar returns to South Bunbury.

The Hawks will unveil their flag at Gloucester Park on the opening night of the season when they meet Busselton in a grand final rematch.
