Hewson holds her own in inspiring win

The Cowaramup Bay Boardriders held their second competition for 2021 at Karates and Ulus at the end of last month.

The maturity, power and flow in the senior girls was inspiring, and not just from winner Zali Hewson.

Mia Scott finished second ahead of Willow Hines.

Josh Willcox jumped to an early lead with two solid scores and was never really challenged in the under-16 boys’ final.

Cruz Sheridan came in second while Harper George was welcomed back to the club with an encouragement award.

Cahn Sheridan showed maturity to take the novice division win from Paige Hayward, who won the encouragement award.

Kye Launders edged the ever-improving Jahli Clarke in the under-12 boys. Koa Mulcahy won an encouragement award.

Just 0.1 separated first and second in the tight junior girls’ final, with Leila Fraser edging out Grace Cook.

Sienna Bowdell came third.

Fynn Lange, pictured, held off a persistent Okie Fraser in the under-14 boys. Blake Mulik received an encouragement award while Reef Lange was awarded for an entertaining rivalry with his older brother.

The new teams challenge proved a winner too, with club members encouraging each other.

The “Good Vibes Award” winners were Hewson for her many hours judging and gentle nature, and Issac Willcox for his froth and willingness to help.
