Police are asking members of the public for information as part of an investigation into the death of a 74-year-old man on Sunday, April 7.

Molloy Island resident David Bell died riding his motorcycle on Caves Road near the Boranup Forest in what police believe was a single-vehicle incident.

Residents in the tight-knit enclave were saddened at news of Mr Bell’s death.

In a notice in the Times, Mr Bell’s wife Kerry thanked those who tried to save her husband at the scene.

The avid motorcyclist died “doing with what he loved with his motorcycle-riding mates,” Mrs Bell said.

He was remembered as a dearly loved husband, father and grandfather.

A police spokesperson said the accident occurred at about 2.30pm on Sunday while the man was riding his black Yamaha motorcycle south on Caves Road near Mammoth Caves Road when it crashed.

It is understood Mr Bell was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

Officers from the major crash investigation section have since appealed to any witnesses or other motorists with dash-cam footage.
