Witchcliffe street celebration on Friday afternoon as Shire of Augusta-Margaret River works program wraps

Witchcliffe residents and the wider community are invited to a celebration on the town’s main strip on Friday afternoon.

The event was organised by the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River in partnership with the RAC to commemorate the end of a year of local projects.

New bicycle paths as well as upgrades to the main street were the focus of the afternoon that starts from 4.30pm at Druids Hall and includes a free sausage sizzle and ice cream, plus games and entertainment for the younger crowd.

The new bicycle-friendly design also features in an incentive for people to ride to the event and go into a draw to win up to $100 in prizes.

An RAC Streetscape Activation Grant funded new seats, bike racks, a pedestrian crossing and bike lanes on Bussell Highway.

A shared path on Redgate Road will also be celebrated as part of works funded through the WA Bike Network Grants Program.

“The project aimed to support a vibrant village, encouraging people to spend time in the area whilst retaining and promoting Witchcliffe’s unique character,” a Shire spokesperson said.

“We’ve completed some awesome projects in Witchcliffe over the past year and thought a street party would be the perfect way to celebrate.”

It followed community consultation in 2023 that included co-design workshops.
