COVID-19 might have put a hold on their traditional music festival but campers will be able to enjoy a good old-fashioned Saturday night out, 140km south of Broome.

Barn Hill Beachside Station Stay will host a series of Saturday Sessions instead of its annual music festival, allowing campers to enjoy local music during their visit.

The Saturday Sessions began with performances by Brandy Newton on June 27 with plenty more local talent on the way for the remaining three concerts.

Barn Hill Beachside Station Stay event organiser Bryden Bell said they wanted to find a way to continue supporting local musicians despite not being able to hold the music festival.

“With so many locals coming to Barn Hill on the weekends, we thought an event on a Saturday night would be a great addition to their camping trip,” she said.

“We are featuring many of the artists which were booked for the festival, plus being on a Saturday, people can make a weekend of it by bringing their camping gear.

“We will also have some kids camps operating on some of the same weekends so there will be plenty of kids activities just like at the annual festival.

“People can expect a great family-friendly night of music, dancing and delicious food under the Kimberley stars.”

Other artists scheduled to perform at the Barn Hill Saturday Sessions include Double Mac and The Kiwis, Puertside and Third Wheel.

Ms Bell said the Saturday Sessions has been well received by the public so far, with Kimberley and Pilbara residents making bookings.

“In this unusual time of COVID-19, Broome has been robbed of the many great events that are held every dry season that feature the local musical talent within our community,” she said.

“People are ready to get out and about again and support these events.

“We’re always looking for new and exciting projects to take on to keep the community engaged.

“Some of them include the kids camps we will be running over the school holidays, live horse shows and our inaugural triples lawn bowls championship.”
