Kobe Powell led Bulls Gold to a grand final berth after defeating Tornadoes Red 91-79 in the A-grade men’s competition. Powell top scored in qualifying final 2 with four threes on his way to 37 points and Baiden Parsons and Pharell Keats both chipped in with 15 each. For Tornadoes, Lachlan Bertram and Devan Craig were the only shining lights, with 27 and 25 respectively. In this week’s preliminary final, Tornadoes Red will face the side they dominated in last week’s qualifying final 1 in Aces Sky, who defeated Tornadoes Black in the elimination final 95-84. Alexander Edwards (28) and Nathan Walsh (21) were the standouts for Aces Sky, needing to adjust this week after making good use of their second chance. Tornadoes Black’s season is over after the defeat. Jack Flynn scored 23 points doing his best to guide the team to the preliminary final and Ryan Smith and Travis McNaughton both scored 13, but it wasn’t enough for the side to get over the line. The first week of finals in the A-grade women’s competition saw Tornadoes Black win the qualifying final derby against Tornadoes Red 76-73, advancing to the grand final. It was a team performance by Tornadoes Black as Zaya Black top scored with 17, then six other players scored over seven. Isabella Andrew was a lone warrior for Tornadoes Red with five threes and 32 points, Grace Adams the only other player in double figures with 12. Aces Sky defeated Bulls in the elimination final 66-49, advancing to face Tornadoes Red in this week’s preliminary final. Competition leading points scorer Ella Edwards continued to dominate for Aces Sky with 27 points and five threes and Christina Boag helped with 15.
