Cash4Cans Bunbury to take over Containers for Change on Smokebush Drive
The City of Bunbury has announced it will transfer its Containers for Change service to a local, family-run business.
On June 21, the City said Cash4Cans Bunbury would take over the Davenport site, allowing the facility to expand without putting the costs on Bunbury ratepayers.
Acting Mayor Tresslyn Smith said Cash4Cans was well established and already managed similar operations in Collie, Harvey and Capel.
“Containers for Change has supported the City’s decision, with the change set to increase the opportunity for commercial and community group collections, along with the potential for further job creation,” Cr Smith said.
“We are pleased our residents will still be able to access the Containers for Change service, and look forward to containers continuing to be diverted from landfill.”
Containers for Change has run in Bunbury for the past two years, but Cash4Cans will to take over the Smokebush Drive site from July 1.
The takeover means the facility’s operating hours could change, and the City has advised residents to keep up to date via Cash4Cans’ Facebook page.
The facility will close for cash transactions on Thursday, June 30 to help the transfer run smoothly.
