The Esplanade Hotel in Busselton hosted the inaugural meeting of a new Busselton community music group on Sunday, January 21.

More than 30 musicians arrived at the venue for an afternoon of friendship and music.

The Busselton Acoustic Music Circle has been organised by a dedicated group of music enthusiasts, who have been busy with research into other acoustic circles in the region.

Geoff Matthews who has a real passion for community music, was leading the group at its first meeting.

“Hopefully this will evolve into an excellent opportunity to meet up monthly to play music with a bunch of like-minded people,” Mr Matthews said.

The core group aspirations are to grow the Busselton Acoustic Music Circle into an ongoing, dynamic group of individual musicians.

“We will be playing music from any number of genres, and encouraging participation of the group,” Mr Matthews said.

The new group has a few things to work out, but they are aiming to work together to learn individual music skills in a group setting.

“There is scope for advanced skills musicians to show off, but there is also scope for beginners to join in and build their skills over time,” Mr Matthews said.

The group will continue to meet on the second Sunday every month at the Esplanade Hotel.
