“It is inspiring that people of all ages give it a go in all conditions; this includes many people with disabilities like myself,” he said.

“I enjoy the swim itself and all the great activities offered in the jetty area, both before and after the swim.

“It is great that people can also watch the event from the jetty.”

Event organisers said Coop was invited to be an ambassador to represent swimmers of all abilities.

The role also recognises his achievements ub open water swims on a local, State, national and international level.

This year, the SunSmart Busselton Jetty Swim celebrates its 24th year, with a record numbers of swimmers registered.

Some 2900 swimmers will be participating in the main swim, the inaugural one-mile swim and the kids’ swim.

The event will take place over the February 9-10 weekend.
