GeoCatch’s pet ownership message, “Pets Away, Possums Play” will be shared in Dunsborough as a permanent artwork.

Capes artist Lauren Wilhelm will create the artwork on the village green electrical box as part of the Dunsborough Progress Association’s WanderArt project.

It will depict responsible interactions between pets and possums, acting as a reminder to owners to keep cats and dogs inside at night.

GeoCatch project officer Nicole Lincoln said responsible pet ownership had been identified as having the greatest impact on protection of the critically endangered western ringtail possum.

Sharing the message through the WanderArt project is part of GeoCatch’s Peppies for Possum project, which aims to increase community awareness of the western ringtail possum.

The campaign is delivered by GeoCatch with support from the South West Catchments Council. For more on responsible pet ownership, visit geocatch.asn.au.
