The annual South West Connect ASX Showcase was held in Busselton this week, as the city welcomed more than 40 ASX-listed companies.

Run by Vertical Events, the forum attracted about 500 investors in the South West and hosted many specialists in fields such as biomedical technologies, financial technology, exploration, mining and energy.

Vertical Events business development manager Jaxon Crabb said the conference was growing rapidly.

“We know that there’s an education and trust process,” he said.

“Initially, the delegate breakdown would have been in the first couple of years, a lot more Perth people, but into the third year now we’re looking at the distribution and we are now at 35 per cent to 40 per cent local delegates and that’s the most exciting part.”

Mr Crabb said the conference was created to bring a diversified group of ASX-listed mid-cap-sized companies into the South West region to network and meet investors.

“The conference provides the perfect environment to chat to board members and executives, as well as learn more about the wide variety of companies listed on the ASX and investment opportunities they present,” he said.

“The idea is to give that opportunity to people in the South West, as they usually have to travel to either Perth or even Sydney and Melbourne.”

Managing director from Asra Minerals, Rob Longley, said the conference was a great opportunity to talk to investors.

“It’s an ability to talk to the investor market and let them understand what Asra is doing and it’s also a good chance to see what other people are doing in the region,” he said.
