Indie-folk heavyweights Angus and Julia Stone and electronic dance duo Client Liaison are among the big acts signed for music festival The Drop.

In collaboration with the World Surf League’s championship tour and coinciding with the Margaret River Pro, the festival returns to the region for the second time in June.

Touted by organisers as a celebration of music, community culture and a love of the ocean, the event will this year be hosted at Barnard Park in Busselton.

Last year’s event was at 3 Oceans in Wilyabrup.

Busselton mayor Grant Henley said The Drop was an excellent addition to the city’s event calendar and the council was working hard to attract more events to the region in the off-peak season.

“The synergies between music, surfing and the laid-back South West lifestyle are perfect,” he said.

“With such an impressive line-up The Drop is likely to be a real hit with visitors and locals.”

Surf/garage rockers Hockey Dad, ARIA Gold-accredited Brisbane four-piece The Jungle Giants and rising star Alex The Astronaut also join the line-up.

Tickets are available at thedropfestival.com.
