The City of Busselton has voiced frustration after an act of vandalism left the newly upgraded tennis courts at Holgate Reserve riddled with holes.
The damage comes after nearly $100,000 was recently spent bringing the facility up to standard.
Although a temporary fix has made the courts safe to use, the city said the surface now falls well short of the high-quality finish the community was promised.
Mayor Phill Cronin said it was “massively disappointing” to see the brand new courts vandalised just after this precinct was upgraded and improved for the community.
“These courts were to be enjoyed by multiple clubs, groups and community members and sadly the repairs and replacement costs will now have to be at the expense of City of Busselton ratepayers,” he said.
“A review of CCTV is being undertaken and I appeal to anyone with information to contact the police.”
