Busselton will play host this weekend to the Pedal Prix WA event, which will involve human-powered vehicles racing on a street circuit on the foreshore.

The competition forms round five of the UniSA Australian HPV Super Series, which gives students and community groups the opportunity to design and build an HPV and enter the vehicle into a competitive race.

Teams of participants (from WA and interstate) compete against each other for six hours of intense racing on an 850m demanding, technical circuit.

The event started in Busselton in 2014 and this year is the first time series points are up for grabs.

There will be eight local teams competing in the event, with three from St Mary MacKillop College, two from Georgiana Molloy Anglican School and three teams from the wider Busselton community. Pedal Prix WA will be held at Signal Park in Busselton this Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Entry for spectators is free.
