Busselton beat powerhouse
Busselton have advanced to the SWFL women’s preliminary final after defeating longstanding competition powerhouse Bunbury 2.4 (16) to 1.6 (12) at Brunswick Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Busselton will now take on the Harvey Bulls at Payne Park tomorrow for a chance to play in their maiden grand final.
The Magpies lost their previous match against Harvey by just one point two weeks ago and will take confidence from their major coup.
Busselton’s Rennie Meadmore lifted her work rate in the rain and began driving the Pies forward where powerhouse Larissa Treagus went to work in a best-on-ground performance.
In the final minutes, Michelle Moloney was perched on a difficult angle in the right forward pocket, about 45m from goal for the Magpies.
Incredibly, she was awarded a 50m penalty for an off-ball indiscretion and kicked the goal, which put her side in front for the first and only time of the game.
