Busselton City councillor Sue Riccelli to run for mayor in October 21 local government election

Busselton City councillor Sue Riccelli is aiming for top job in the local government election on October 21. Cr Riccelli, who is putting her hand up to become mayor against six other candidates, said one of the reasons for her candidacy involves her range of experience. “I have worked tirelessly on council for the last four years and put through countless alternative motions, earning myself an undeniable reputation for integrity, hard work and commitment to local issues,” she said. “I have vast community service experience, extensive facilitation/communication skills and the right background fit for the role.” In addition to her council experience, Cr Riccelli has had more than 31 years of community service experience, first as a police officer and more recently providing Parenting Support for Anglicare. She also has plenty of communication and leadership experience, facilitating a variety of group workshops, being a regular guest speaker, is chair of five community committees, has driven many community initiatives and has plenty of more experience in other realms. Cr Riccelli said one of her key priorities is to serve the community with authenticity, integrity, honesty and hard work. “To ensure transparency/accountability and to demonstrate strong leadership to my council and the community,” she said. “There are many serious issues that befall our community and I will be pro-actively advocating for change and/or funding from State Government to address some of these issues. “No other candidate has the wealth of experience that I do working with every aspect of our very diverse society or the extensive background working in the Community Service Sector.” “No other candidate comes close to matching the vast amount of alternative motions I have put through while on council, fighting for a wide variety of local issues, nor do they have the already established local reputation for integrity/hard work and commitment to our community.” Cr Riccelli said she never gives up and prefers to have a can-do attitude. “If I didn’t believe 100 per cent that I had the right skill set, personal credibility, and attributes to do this job, I wouldn’t put my hand up.”
