Community organisations in Busselton and Dunsborough are set to receive more support thanks to money from Lottery-west. The City of Busselton was last month awarded $53,990 in the latest round of Lotterywest funding. The funds will go towards training community organisations in governance and financial management through the Strengthening Communities program. Busselton Deputy Mayor Kelly Hick said it would help the City support more than 200 community groups and organisations. “The program has been designed to focus on organisational governance and resilience, better understanding of capabilities and areas for development, increased use of innovative technologies/business models, responding to crisis and improving greater collaboration,” she said. “The program is expected to be delivered via specific workshops and training packages delivered over the next two years, with signifi-cant resources and training opportunities available to all community groups and organisations within the district.” South West MLC Jackie Jarvis commended the City for its plan to provide the training in a central location, allow-ing them to continue working in the region.
