A South West woman caught driving while more than five times the legal alcohol limit less than a month after a third DUI has been fined thousands of dollars. Helen Claire Horton was convicted at Busselton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for charges of driving without authority and drunk-driving. On May 2, the woman was driving on Albert Street, Busselton when she lost control of her car, mounted a roundabout and crashed into a power pole. Police found she had a blood alcohol level of 0.265. It was revealed in court Horton had three DUIs on her record, with her licence having been permanently disqualified only 11 days earlier in the Bunbury Magistrate’s Court. Convicted in her absence due to her now being in a 26-week rehabilitation, the woman was fined $3400 for the two charges, and additional licence cancellations were put on her record.
