Busselton hair salon Oscar & Ivy Hair Co has been named a finalist in the Australian Hair Industry’s only business-focused awards. The Australian Hair Industry Awards recognise business excellence for Australia’s leading hairdressers, salons, specialist businesses, educators and professional products. Oscar & Ivy is up against five other salons in the Western Australia/Northern Territory salon business of the year category. Director of Oscar and Ivy, Merinda Levitzke said she and the team were extremely proud and excited. “It’s pretty special,” she said. “It’s the first time that we’ve entered a hairdressing award is actually industry-specific, as we normally enter small business awards, so to be aligned with some of Australia’s best salons, it’s very special to be honest. “As we have been nominated for the state awards, it means that we are automatically nominated for the Australian Salon Business of the year awards and the judges’ choice award, which is pretty incredible.” Mrs Levitzke said they entered Oscar & Ivy into the awards as the salon wanted to be accountable for its own business goals. “Every time we enter a business award or anything like that, we do it so we can reflect the next year and really get down to the nitty gritty of what our goals are and how we can achieve them,” she said. “We really put in a lot of time and effort into our salon training, so our staff training, our team building programmes and we’re really involved in the community and we do whatever we can to give back and to leave a lighter footprint in the sustainability side of things.” The awards will be announced at the much-anticipated gala event at The Star on the Gold Coast on Sunday, September 24.
