Busselton mum turned her day-to-day care for herself and her son with autism into business

A Busselton mother Jacinta Keeble has turned her day-to-day care for herself and her son with autism into a new business. While caring for her son, Ms Keeble discovered the impact parental stress could have on children, so the former writer launched into action. She trained in reiki and shamanic healing before starting her holistic business Mother Rose Healing in March 2023, offering healing and spiritual services. “I started energy healing because my son is autistic,” Ms Keeble told the Times. “I just didn’t really know how to hold space for someone on the spectrum, so I tried lots of different healers and lots of different modalities, and then I found energy healing and it worked brilliantly.” Ms Keeble told the Times her spiritual nature opened up when she discovered energy healing. “My grandmother came through in spirit form. She passed away a few years ago, and she came through and she started teaching me different energy healing techniques,” she said. “If you told me 10 years ago ‘you’re gonna be a shamanic practitioner’, I wouldn’t have believed you.” Ms Keeble is a trained reiki master. Reiki is a practice originating in Japan. Ms Keeble said she got a lot out of helping others heal and clear dark energy, and it had taught her to do the same for herself. “Being a shaman is very hard, dealing with all sorts of things, but it’s worth it every time. Every time I think, like, ‘oh, wow, I was able to do that hard thing’,” she said. “It’s why I keep going, and the love of my son . . . keeps me going.” Ms Keeble said healing was a gift most people had or could learn. “My goal is to help more autistic people and help their parents — to give the parent the skills so the child can feel safe and strong in their energy,” she said. “I’d like to write a book and develop a program so they can have practical steps that they can do energetically and physically.” Ms Keeble isn’t alone in turning her hobby into a business. The 2024 Small Business Report — conducted by Vistaprint — reveals 59 per cent of Australians with a hobby have thought about making it a business, or have done so.
