Busselton Naturalists Club will tonight hold its annual Meelup Moonrise Walk for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Taking place from Dunsborough to Meelup Beach, the 4km walk is set to play host to the first full moon of the new year.

Club president Bernie Masters hoped a “stairway to the moon” experience would be displayed.

“Walkers need to bring their own picnic meal, chairs and blankets to await the rising of the full moon over Geographe Bay,” Mr Masters said.

“A bus leaving from the carpark of the former visitor centre on Peel Terrace at 5pm will take walkers from Busselton to Dunsborough for $10 each.”

Mr Masters said there would also be a return bus for $5 at the end of the evening.

The club urges people to join the walk, which boasts more than 100 participants each year. It starts from the Old Dunsborough boat ramp at 5.45pm.
