The Busselton Squash Club men’s A-grade team won the Leschenault Teams Classic last weekend at the Leschenault Leisure Centre.

Represented by 10 players across four separate teams, Busselton held their own against some of the best players from metropolitan and regional WA.

In the premier division, Busselton’s classy team of Daniel Taylor, Sean Brockman and Josh Mitchell claimed victory, with both Brockman and Mitchell remaining un-defeated throughout the tournament, and Taylor again setting records for match times and surprise scalps.

Ryan Callegari, Oliver Godson and Corey Smith won the B-grade division in an upset against firm favourites Bunbury Squash Club.

Such was the level of competition, the winning team was ultimately declared on a countback of matches, sets and points won.

Callegari said while there were many wins for his team, “losing well” counted for a lot at the end of the weekend.

Spring Squash is just beginning to heat up as Busselton Squash Club looks to the upcoming annual Country Teams Tournament at Squashworld Mirrabooka.

Two-dozen players across six teams will look to repeat recent successes in Perth over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
