Asbestos testing from the Old Butter Factory has come back negative, confirming contamination has been contained to the building’s top floor. City of Busselton engineering and works services director Oliver Darby said the negative result on samples taken was welcomed but access to the site would still be controlled.

“The City of Busselton will be liaising with both the Busselton Historical Society and Busselton Pottery Group with the plan for remediation and repair of the facility,” Mr Darby said.

No specific timeframe as to when the building could be accessed was given.
