Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co won a gold medal and trophy for Best Pale Ale at the Perth Royal Beer Awards last week.

The awards, organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of WA, recognised the Sherby Tasty Ale, a new beer in Cheeky Monkey’s list, released earlier this year. The beer is slightly hazy with a light-medium body and tropical flavours. It beat out 370 entries in the pale ale category.

Cheeky Monkey managing director Brent Burton said his team “couldn’t be happier” as pale ale was the most consumed beer in Australia outside of lager.

“We hope to capture a segment of the market that are either just starting their craft beer journey, or someone who is looking to fill their fridges with a high quality, affordable and reliable product,” he said.
