A local team has triumphed in the inaugural Yahava KoffeeWorks Cool Water Classic ocean swim race between Dunsborough to Busselton on Saturday, November 11. Local team the Swimming Women won the club challenge trophy with about 100 locals among the 362 competitors in the 20km race. The solo male winner Max Coten recorded a time of 4hr. 44min. 56.08sec. with the best of the locals Simon Keall of Busselton Masters Swimming, taking ninth place. The female solo winner Rachael Rowland recorded a time of 7:25:30.25. Busselton Deputy Mayor Anne Ryan officially started the race at 7am at Quindalup boat ramp with the last competitor reaching the finish line at the Busselton Jetty at 4.45pm. The competitors were aided through the swim by four “beach parties” along the coastal route, which served as pit stops, allowing the swimmers to refuel and manage relay changeovers.
