Courses to offer an all-ages challenge
The school holidays are set to bring extra adventure this year when the X-Adventure event kicks off for the sixth year in Dunsborough on April 21 and 22.
The event features a range fun-packed triathlon and adventure racing courses for all ages, including ocean swimming, trail running and mountain bike riding.
Event manager and Rapid Ascent’s Sam Maffett encouraged families and especially children to become involved in the action.
“Dunsborough is perfect for a holiday getaway, and the landscape is just perfect for the X-Adventure races,” he said.
“The race atmosphere is very inclusive and encouraging of all athletes, especially the popular kids races.
“The teams categories also mean you can just do one leg to be part of the action.”
The kids course, suitable for children 14 and under, includes the same mix of disciplines and off-road terrain as the adult races, but tones down the length and the technical difficulty.
Participants will dive into a 200m swim across the small bay, before taking on a 2.6km coastal run and 5km mountain bike ride.
Meanwhile, the Groms X-Adventure provides the perfect introduction to off-road adventures for children up to eight years old, with a short 800m trail run and 1200m mountain bike ride.
The adult long and short courses will also take place over the weekend before the new Aquathlon-X rounds out the weekend’s schedule with a 1km ocean swim followed by a 5km coastal trail run.
