Diverse works at exhibition
The annual Easter Exhibition at the Yallingup Galleries Garden Art Studio will open this weekend, with a stunning and diverse collection of paintings by artists Nellie Crawford, Douglas Kirsop, Larry Mitchell and jewellery by Keiko Uno.
Yallingup Galleries curator Suzie Vidler said the artists had produced artworks that referenced compositions exploring colour, texture and light across the genres, which were combing with jeweller Keiko Uno’s pieces inspired by Sugarloaf Rock.
Artist Douglas Kirsop said his pieces in the exhibition were all new and had been inspired by his travels to places like Morocco, the North West and the South West.
Kirsop said he worked to sketch while he travelled and upon returning home, painted the landscapes, beach scapes and streetscapes he had witnessed. “I am very inspired by nature and the light in particular,” he said.
The exhibition will be opening at 10am on Saturday, with the official opening at 6pm, and will run daily from 10am-4pm until April 10 at the studio on Marrinup Drive.
