A new line-up of four talented local musicians are preparing for their first major gig at the Dunsborough Tavern on January 20.

Psycho Serene have prepared a one-hour set of original music for their debut performance as a four-piece psychedelic rock band.

The band consists of bassist Jack Collins, drummer Reef Mangini, guitarist Ned Partington, and lead guitarist and vocalist Oliver Nolan.

Collins explained the inspiration for their original music.

“Australian band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have been a big influence for us, as well as some other bands from Germany and the UK such as Pink Floyd,” he said.

Partington said the band had broad musical styles.

“We have a pretty diverse and unique psychedelic-infused sound which ranges from blues, punk, garage rock, stoner rock and soft rock,” Partington said.

The men have been playing together for about two years.

“Our line-up has changed as the band developed,” Collins said.

The gig is part of the Live Music series at the Dunsborough Tavern, and Psycho Serene have organised the whole event.

Opening for the group will be musician Tom Reagan. After their one-hour set, Psycho Serene will hand over to DJ Jasper Reynolds.

The event starts at 8pm and will run until 11pm.
