Dunsborough surfer takes selfie with Hollywood royalty

Local bodyboard surfer Joe Jordanoff encountered a rare surprise while walking his dog in Yallingup last week. Returning to his car at Rabbit Hill beach, Mr Jordanoff heard an approaching quad bike and stepped aside to allow the bike to pass. “As the quad bike came through, I saw Nicolas Cage was riding pillion, so I smiled, and nodded in recognition. It was a complete surprise. I know there is filming taking place, but I wasn’t expecting this,” Mr Jordanoff said. “He looked quite tired, after a long day of filming, but then the quad bike stopped right in front on me. So I asked Nic for a Selfie.” Cage was very friendly and happy to oblige, allowing Mr Jordanoff the opportunity to take a once-in-a-lifetime photo, with an actor he described as “Hollywood royalty”. Mr Jordanoff is a local man who has surfed waves at Rabbit Hill Beach since childhood. “It’s amazing to have someone of Nic’s stature in town, I think he is a very talented actor. “I appreciate the craft of acting, because I am a keen participant in local theatre. I’ve been in a few local things. ” Mr Jordanoff said, sharing that some of his friends and fellow local surfers are taking part in the filming as extras. “The whole town of Yallingup is just buzzing with excitement.” Nicolas Cage is in the South West filming his latest movie The Surfer.
