An Eagle Bay home’s inspired design has bagged Bluewater Building the title of best country home in WA for the first time.

The win for the business’ design was announced at the 2021 Master Builders-Bankwest Housing Excellence Awards last month.

The stunning three-storey building was developed in collaboration with a designer and homeowner, capitalising on the Geographe Bay ocean vista with enclosed balconies and a basement “man-cave”.

Bluewater Building owner Anton Smith said winning the State title was an exciting moment for the Dunsborough team.

“We’re ecstatic, to be honest,” he said.

“There’s a lot of great homes built over WA so to be recognised as the regional winner is pretty exciting.

“The award is great for the business but at the end of the day we don’t build homes to enter awards, we build homes because it’s a passion.

“It’s not a job for us — it’s a passion to create the best home possible for people.”

The home’s win reflected the commitment to building excellence and high professional standards the awards embraced, according to judge Charlie Baggetta.

“The stonework, tiling, cabinetry and external finishings are the perfect example of exceptional craftsmanship and a commitment to quality,” he said.

“The home truly encapsulates what the housing excellence awards are all about.

“The recognition they’ve received from both the 2020 and 2021 awards have been based purely on Bluewater Building’s unconditional commitment to perfection, which is evident in their Eagle Bay home.”

The Dunsborough company has been on an upward trajectory, having also been awarded the best home in the South West gong at last year’s WA Master Builder’s Awards.

The State regional title means Bluewater Building’s award-winning home will now compete against the best homes in Australia at the Master Builders National Awards in November.
