Fined for ranger attack
A Busselton man has been fined $3000 and charged court fees for verbally assaulting a ranger and intimidating staff.
Bryan Thomas Float pleaded guilty to assaulting a public officer and behaving in a disorderly manner in a public place.
The incident occurred about 3pm on December 12 at the City of Busselton Council Chambers, where Float “aggressively” complained about a letter regarding his dog. The court heard Float banged his fist on the counter demanding to see the ranger who had sent the letter, and when the ranger arrived, repeatedly swore and pushed his head into the face of the ranger in an attempted head-butt.
“It was a stupid mistake,” Float said. “I was drunk, your honour.”
Magistrate Mark Millington SM said behaviour of this nature was not tolerated and fined Float $1500 for each charge.
