In light of fire emergencies sweeping the country, Our Lady of the Cape Primary School conducted a fire evacuation drill on Tuesday.

The drill was orchestrated by Dunsborough Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service Lt Andy Thompson and volunteer Gary McMahon with the school’s assistant principal, Adrian Torrese.

Dunsborough Fire Brigade appliances were placed at strategic areas of the school and demonstrated hosing down flames.

Mr Torrese said the exercise was invaluable for students to understand the need for a fire safety plan.

“We are in a high-risk area, so we need to test the procedures we have in place to ensure they work, and improve them,” he said.
