Gifted star ramps up skill
Dunsborough Street Skateboarder Claudia Duane, 16 — the Busselton Freight Services rising sports star for March — scored a new ramp in her backyard during the COVID-19 restrictions.
The young athlete said she loved skateboarding due to its extremely social and supportive nature.
“I like how it’s really creative and you can choose whatever tricks you want and how you want to skate,” Duane said.
“I’m working hard on getting different types of tricks rather than just focusing on street and try and incorporate it so that I can get better at bowl.”
Street skateboarding focuses on flat ground tricks and aerials within public spaces.
Duane was able to practise during COVID-19 restrictions when a family friend gifted her a ramp for the backyard.
