The CinefestOz film festival grand opening was hailed a success on Wednesday night with locals and film stars enjoying the glamour of the red carpet event.
CinefestOz chairwoman Helen Shervington thanked sponsors and the State Government for supporting the festival in challenging times.
“We pivoted the festival to focus on short films and not being able to bring in the glamour from the east and the high profile film guests was a disappointment but it has made this feel like a very special local event,” she said.
City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley, Vasse MLA Libby Mettam and South West MLC Adele Farina were grateful it could go ahead, hailing it as the return of the “events capital of WA”.
