The Dunsborough Community Garden was the lucky recipient of $500 as part of a $10,000 grant from Westpac on Tuesday.

Community garden chairman Mike Charlesworth said he was incredibly honoured for the garden to be one of the recipients.

“We’ve spent a lot of money getting the garden set up and help from various places like this money from Westpac is very much appreciated, it all goes to a good cause.”

The community garden committee will use the money to expand the garden into the nearby allotments.

Sarah Yates from Dunsborough Westpac said there was quite a few community gardens in the region which received money from the grant.

“We committed money to six community gardens in the South West region as a way to encourage people to get outdoors and join in the community.”

Dunsborough Community Garden committee member Christine Hope said gardening was a great outlet for people during the COVID-19 lockdown.
