Heritage Festival to promote South West’s rich timber history

The Busselton and South West Heritage Festival is set to open on March 2 to promote and celebrate the rich history, heritage and culture in the South West region. It will be at the Old Courthouse in Busselton from 10.30am. There will be talks, tours, events, an exhibition, art workshops and gigs that explore the impact of the timber industry in shaping the economy of the district. This year the theme for the exhibition is timber and an appreciation for the rich biodiversity of the South West region will be at the heart of the show. The exhibition will also acknowledge the cultural heritage of forests special to the Wardandi and the connection community members have to nature. The organisers hope the festival encourages locals and tourists alike to visit the area’s numerous heritage sites and museums and learn more about the history of the South West region.
