‘I’m flabbergasted’: Dunsborough resident wins a weekend away in the Swan Valley

A lucky Dunsborough resident has won a relaxing weekend away in the Swan Valley. In late September, The West Australian held a competition, in which participants had to find a code word hidden in PLAY magazine to win a weekend getaway. On Monday morning Glenys Murphy found out she was the one lucky participant who was successful. “I’m still absolutely flabbergasted,” Mrs Murphy said. “I was even more excited as I found out the day of my husband’s 80th birthday, which was very special. “He was very happy when I told him, it was also great timing because he got a few books for his birthday which he can read while we’re over there.” Mrs Murphy and her husband, John, have won two nights at Maya Maya at Mandoon Estate, a $200 Swan Valley gift card, tickets to Brunch with Sittella and a Sparkling Masterclass at Garbin Estate. Mrs Murphy said she was looking forward to taking a break from all her appointments. “I think I’m just going to relax completely,” she said. “The whole trip just looks fantastic, so it will be nice not to think about all of the medical things.” When asked if she had ever won a competition before, Mrs Murphy said, “Nothing like this”. “I remember years and years ago I entered a competition to win a trip to Greece, I ended up coming second, but I just won a bottle of perfume,” she said. “We are just extremely lucky and I feel very grateful.”
